Why is a transaction not being processed due to price protection?

Modified on Mon, 6 Jul at 10:07 AM

When making a buy, sell, or swap transaction for a cryptocurrency experiencing high volatility or lack of liquidity, the operation could be executed at a quote price very different from the one indicated in the summary. This could also happen when the transaction you wish to perform involves a high amount.

When this happens and a high price impact due to slippage or market displacement is detected, the automated system will not allow you to complete the transaction in your Wallet, prompting you to enter a smaller amount for the purchase or to perform the transaction via Bit2Me PRO. The alert shown is as follows:

Price Protection

This operation cannot be executed due to a high price impact that could result in considerable losses for you. Please enter a smaller amount.

This usually happens when three different scenarios arise:

  1. When there is momentary high volatility in a cryptocurrency/token. This means there's a very high volume of transactions at that moment.
  2. When there is low liquidity. This situation occurs when few or no trades are recorded between different operations, causing very high spikes in a matter of seconds due to the low liquidity at that moment.
  3. When the transaction amount is too high.
