What is the process for inheriting funds from an account?

Modified on Wed, 24 Sep at 11:01 AM

We inform our Bit2Me clients that it is important to establish the corresponding documentation in their will to justify the designation of heirs for their investments in Bit2Me. It is crucial that the heirs can prove their legitimate status in order to withdraw the funds. Below, we detail the necessary documents that must be sent to the Verifications Department (verifications@bit2me.com) for this purpose.

Requirements for the Heir:

In order to access the inherited funds from Bit2Me, it is necessary for the heir to prove their legitimacy by presenting the following documentation:

  • Death Certificate: This document is essential to notify the client's passing and confirm the opening of the inheritance process.

  • Official Family Record Book: If the deceased was married or had children, the heir must present the family record book (or equivalent documents like marriage and birth certificates) to corroborate the client's marital status and the existence of descendants.

  • Will: The deceased's will must be presented to demonstrate the designation of heirs and any specific instructions regarding the investments in Bit2Me.

  • Acceptance of Inheritance / Declaration of Heirs: The heir must provide documentation that proves their formal acceptance of the inheritance or the declaration that designates them as a legitimate heir.

  • Heir's ID: A copy of the National Identity Document (or equivalent ID) of the heir requesting the withdrawal of funds must be attached to verify their identity.

  • Proof of payment of inheritance tax.

It is crucial that these documents are sent to the Bit2Me Verifications Department for proper validation and processing of the inheritance. Should you require further assistance, we recommend contacting our customer support team.

The security and protection of inherited investments in Bit2Me are a priority for us. For this reason, it is imperative that heirs comply with the established requirements to ensure a clear and effective process in the transfer of the inherited assets. We appreciate our clients' understanding and cooperation in this procedure.

Information: Bit2Me accounts are not inherited; what is inherited are the funds deposited in them. Therefore, the heir must open and register an account with Bit2Me where the funds will be transferred once the process is complete.
